Moses was born in 1393 BCE he was the third child to Jocheved and Amram, he had a brother and sister Aaron and Miriam during this time the Israelites were enslaved. Due to the many decree handed down by the rulers of the time his mother had no choice to when he was 3 months old to place him in a basket and send him down the Nile river, because of a decree had been passed that all male Hebrew infants were to be drown in an attempt to control the slave population which the Pharaoh’s were getting concerned was growing much too quickly. It is at this time that God reveals himself to him in the presence of a â€Å"Burning Bush† at Mount Horeb (Sinai) as it is well known. This is when Moses is told that he was needed to go back to Egypt and free his people from slavery, Moses was shaken and he even refused several times causing God to become angry at him but, and still God beckoned him to do this task. Finally Moses agreed, but Moses was worried as to how he would be able to accomplish such and enormous task. That is when God told him not to worry because he would be with him the entire way. Moses still had one big question for God and that is â€Å" Who is he that he could go to the Pharaoh and tell him to let my people go† and God responded â€Å"that we has his messenger and that he was to lead his children out of Egypt and out of Slavery† and that â€Å" He would be with him always†. Once Moses reaches Egypt he goes to see Pharaoh and tells him what God has instructed him to, but Pharaoh just ignores him and doesn’t believe that his God even exists, so Moses having brought one of his sons with him has him show Pharaoh just how real God is by turning his staff into a serpent, with this Pharaoh is not impressed and simply states that any good magician can do the same. The Progressive Era was the solution to many different problems that were caused by the fast pace of industrialization and city growth within the United States after the Civil War. Problems during this time included poverty, cheap labor, corruption within government and within big industries, and political organizations that broke down the integrity of the government. During this time, many Americans saw the United States as non-traditional. They felt that government being corrupted by the rich and powerful would only make life harder for them and easier for the rich. The Progressives were mostly middle class people who wanted to improve the lives of others like them. The workers were composed of men, some women, and even children. Women we re paid less than men and over 1.7 million children under the age of 16 worked in factories and fields. Workers, who were mostly middle class, worked in horrible conditions, worked long hours, were paid the minimum amount and their jobs werent stable. Since the government didnt regulate the working conditions within factories, the work place was usually unsafe and unhealthy for workers to be in. By 1900 roughly thirty five thousand workers were killed each year while within their work place. If a worker was to be hurt or killed within the work place the employer would almost never pay the worker or compensate the worker for his injury or death. Workers would usually work around 10 hours a day 6 days a week. This not only takes a toll on the worker, but on his family aswell. Workers had to work that long in order to support their families since they were being paid the bare minimum. They were also easily replaced. If a worker was injured or became sick, they would be replaced almost instantly. This made the jobs very unstable and people were constantly being replaced by newer people. This resulted in the rate of injuries increasing every year. Employers would hire women and children to save money. Sophocles (MLA) Article Review of Sophocles (Order #A2089239) The article I have chosen to discuss is called Antigona: A Voice Rebuking Power. It was written in 2007 by a University of New Mexico law professor named Margaret E. Montoya and explored a legalistic understanding of Sophocles play Antigone. The article detailed a trip to Mexico to see a performance of Antigone in Spanish, but also discussed the legal aspect of King Creons decisions.
